K.Y..” Social Media and Teens.”School Library Journal, vol.64, no.10, October 2018, .18-18. Academic Search Premier, accessed 21 January 2020. This article reports the findings of CommonSenseMedia’s survey of 1,141 teens, which found that the impact of social media depends largely on the personality of the user and the time spent on it. This proves that the effects of social media are complicated because it all depends on personalities and screen time. I know this is a reliablesource because it was published in the school library journal, reports the findings of a large- scale survey, and is fairly recent. This study surveyed 3,095 Spanish students from 12to 18 years of age and found that the highest performing students spent only 2 hours and 20 minutes on screen media each day, sleeepingan average of 9 hours per night. The lowest group spent five and a half hours per day on screen media, sleeping an average of 8hours per night. This can beused to prove that the more time teens spend on screen media, the less sleep they get, and the lower their academic performance. The article was published in pear reviewed journal, has an extensive bibliography, and offers first- hand research.
