English 1-1A 12 March 2019 Narrative story Spikes!
One day I was at my sister’s house in Shoshone where the Shoshonee Indians lived. My niece and I we’re siting on the couch in the living room a on hot summer day. We were watching Dora with the monkey who is Dora’s best friend.
My niece said to me, “I want to play with the cat.” I said, “ok.” We went to get the cat from outside. It was 98 degrees. We were walking on the hot rocks outside on our bare feet. it felt like a million little burners on our we could feel the sweet we could see the heat waves moving dripping down our faces. We walked to the wire fence to find the cat we did not find it. We “were” going to walk back to the house, but then we heard a meow. We looked around, and the cat was stuck in the weeds by the fence. My niece walked up to the dirt.
Little did we know that we were going to encounter a million little spikes under our feet. As we walked, we stopped to yell at each other. “I found it.”. We ran to the cat in slow motion. As we touched the dirt, we felt the spikes rip though our skin like a bunch of snake teeth. Blood came out of our feet. As we cry for pain, we staredat the cat. We regretted going to go look for the cat without permission. As we cried in pain for help, we tried to walk out of the dirt to the gravel. We walked on our heels, and my mom came out to see if we were ok. She saw us and ran as fast as a cheetah to us.
She stopped and said “Are you ok’’ We answered “No”shaking our heads. We could see the fear of her face from a mile away. She picked us up and took us inside. She set us on the coach and ran to get the tweezers. She picked out one, by one afraid of hurting us. I had more than my niece because I went to farther then she did. I had more dug into my feet.As I got done, my mom went to help my niece.I tried to keep her from crying more. I told her everything was going to be ok. She did not even listen. She did not even want my mom to help her take them out. What she did not know was that it still hurts. After you take them out, it burns bad, but I did not tell her that.
Eventually my mom told my niece to turn and look at the tv, and she took hers out.We were done crying. Then we watched Dora the episode where Dora want's chocolate from the chocolate tree. My mom had made us sandwiches and put a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on the side.
I learned that day.To this day I still don’t put on my shoes when I go outside. and My niece has learned to always put her shoes on when she goes outside. Not me! I still live my life not wearing shoe unless I know I am going to be outside for a long time.
I feel like shoes make me move slower. Now, every day I have something to say to newpeople that I meet.It is always a good conversation starter. My niece and I remember it like it was yesterday. one day, when we are sad,we will laughwhen we look back on this.
